C25 Advanced Leadership: April to September 2024 (GPs) - Virtual Course

ONLY GPs, GP RETAINEES AND GPSTs CAN USE THIS CODE TO REGISTER ONTO THE COURSE. 


This course will cover the following in the virtual 10 sessions. Programmes are in development for each session and will be posted in Portal nearer the time. Each delegate will receive a workbook which will be used at each session, there will be a project that you need to undertake and develop as a poster for the final session.

This is a 10 session course for more experienced medical and pharmacy staff ( > 3 years post registration experience) staff wishing to further develop their leadership skills. You really need to be able to attend all 10 sessions. A Foundation level course is available for those who have not had any leadership development. Please ensure that you complete the pre course work and the tasks. The days are spaced to enable you to complete a variety of tasks in between the days and to enhance your learning. Please come prepared to share your experiences.

Pre-work will be uploaded to the 'Documentation' tab for this course about 2-3 weeks prior to the course. Please ensure that you download and complete the tasks for session 1 prior to attending the course.

The aim of this course is to enable participants to test some key theories of leadership in the workplace. The teaching style is discussion orientated with participants being expected to come equipped with experiences to share with the group and participants are expected to complete some tasks/ project work throughout the course. As part of the course there are senior healthcare professionals who attend to share their experiences - please come prepared to ask them questions.

All printed information for the course is available via the 'Documentation' tab for this course. Prior to session 1 participants are expected to 'dip' into the reading list, reflect on their favourite leader and complete some tasks using the templates provided. Other tasks include - reflection on a scenario with your team, reflection on a change management project that you have observed, reflection on a change management project that you have LED, reflection on a recent communication, reflection on 'chairing at/of meetings'.

For session 10, participants are expected to share the outcome of a project that they have completed as part of the course that demonstrates their understanding of the leadership theory taught on the course.
Please note that the posters need to be emailed as either a PowerPoint slide or as a word document to NES Pharmacy for processing. Please do not print your poster. 

Key topics covered in the course are; the dynamics of teams, how to chair effectively, communication for leadership, managing conflict, coaching vs mentoring, staff development, change management and how to negotiate effectively.

This is a series of 11 webinars called “A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BUSY GENERAL PRACTICE”.  This will provide a minimum of 12 hours of CPD.

CPD Connect: Joint Injections - Half Day PM

The CPD Connect Team invite you to attend a Joint Injection Training for GPs training session on Friday 23 August 2024 at our offices in Westport, Edinburgh.

This course is aimed at beginners and those with some joint injection experience.  

The session will cover the following:

- indications for corticosteroid injections - an interactive presentation
- hands on injection of a range of joints using both one to one and group formats
- Ample time for questions and case discussions


Cost: £60.00

Early booking is recommended as this course is regularly over-subscribed.
