CPD Connect (First5 GPs): Frailty - Simulation-based learning

GP simulation offers a safe and supportive environment where you can hone your skills and decision-making.  In this engaging course you'll collaborate in a small group, actively participating in realistic patient scenarios.  These interactions are observed by fellow participants, followed by a guided discussion led by a skilled facilitator.  This reflective process encourages deeper learning and is tailored to your individual goals.

Target Audience: First5 GPs.  (When booking, please enter your CCT date in the Special Requirements box to authenticate your funding).

This workshop has been designed for a small group of learners.  We are currently able to offer places at no charge due to Scottish Government funding, but it is highly resource intensive.  While we understand that unexpected emergencies may arise, please only book if you are genuinely confident that you can attend.

This is IN-PERSON learning - venue is NHS Education for Scotland, 177 Bothwell Street, Glasgow, G2 7ER

By the end of this session, you should be able to:

  1. Diagnose frailty in the primary care setting using established clinical criteria.
  2. Apply validated screening tools to systematically identify patients living with frailty.
  3. Review and manage polypharmacy in patients with frailty to minimise adverse drug reactions and rationalise medication.
  4. Utilise the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) effectively to develop comprehensive and personalised care plans for patients living with frailty.
  5. Recognise and address the key medicolegal aspects (such as capacity and best interests) associated with managing patients with frailty.
  6. Assess and support the needs of carers who are supporting patients living with frailty.

CPD Connect: Considering GP Partnership

CPD Connect are pleased to offer this new webinar aimed at GPs at any career stage (including ST3s) who are unsure about whether GP Partnership is for them and want more information to make an informed decision, and/or are considering applying for GP Partnership for the first time.

You will hear from three current GPs, who have been Partners for varying durations, about their experiences. There will be Q&A opportunities with the speakers. Content will cover what being a GP Partner actually involves, the advantages and disadvantages, how to choose a practice, different types of partnerships and practices, and how to apply for partnership.

Please note: This webinar provides an overview of GP Partnership, and will feed into a revised version of our ‘Preparing for GP Partnership’ learning programme. It is intended that by attending the ‘Considering GP Partnership’ you will be able to determine whether the longer programme is suitable for your needs. ‘Preparing for GP Partnership’ will be advertised later this year.
