CPD Connect: Adult Support & Protection Workshop - January 2023

The CPD Connect Team invite you to attend an Adult Support and Protection Workshop Training session at level 3 on Tuesday 31 January 2023 which will be delivered over MS Teams.


Adult Protection is a mandatory training requirement for all staff working in primary care, for GPs there is a recommendation to complete a minimum of 8 hours of training over 3 years. This Level 3 certificated session will contribute 3 hours towards these minimum requirements.


The session will include pre-reading, a 2.5 hour interactive session and will have regular breaks. Please note that the session will not be recorded and participants are required to attend live. 


The session will include presentations from representatives of the Local Authority, Police Scotland and the NHS Grampian adult protection trainer.


The learning outcomes (detailed below) are in line with the RCGP expectations.

CPD Connect: (GP's) Preparing for GP Partnership Series - 2023

Target audience: GPs .

We are looking for a group of  GP participants to progress through the sessions together, therefore please only sign up if you anticipate being able to attend all 5 sessions. The cost of this series is £300.00.


The series explores the non-clinical aspects of GP partnership. The sessions will take place on Microsoft Teams and must be attended live.


All GPs are welcome to apply. Course may be particularly useful to GPs considering partnership or who have recently joined partnership.  


The Series will include the following 5 sessions: 



1. GP Contracts - 9 February 2023, 11:30 to 14:00
Outline the structure of NHS Scotland and Health and Social Care Partnerships. Understand how practices interface with the wider NHS. Explore differences in funding structure between 17J, 17C and 2C practices and have an overview of what services are included in core funding and which are optional additional services. Consider implementation of the new contract.

2. Human Resources - 21 February 202309:30 to 12:00
Recognise the responsibilities of an employer and the rights of employees. Describe what is involved in hiring new staff and supporting their professional development. Explore how to handle staff grievances, disciplinary processes and patient complaints. 


3. Partnership Agreements - 28 February 202309:30 to 12:00
Outline the structure of a partnership agreement, understand its legal implications and explore different clauses. Consider strategies to prevent and manage conflict with other partners. Explore options for practices in difficulty including scenarios that may result in practice closure and how to protect partners from bankruptcy. 

4. Practice Accounts - 21 March 202309:30 to 12:00
Talk through a set of practice accounts and explore variables that can influence drawings. Understand how to prepare for the first tax bill as a partner and the pros and cons of different practice business structures.

5. 
Leadership  -  30 March 2023, 09:30 to 12:00
Explore what makes a “well-run” practice and how to create a positive working culture. Discuss how to manage change with reference to real-life examples. Explore aspect of self-care and resilience as a partner.


Sessions will be interactive and based around practical examples, with plenty of time to ask subject experts questions. All sessions will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams and will be facilitated by a GP.   Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

CPD Connect: Joint Injections - Half Day PM

The CPD Connect Team invite you to attend a Joint Injection Training for GPs training session on Friday 24 March 2023 at our offices in Westport, Edinburgh.

This course is aimed at beginners and those with some joint injection experience.  

The session will cover the following:

- indications for corticosteroid injections - an interactive presentation
- hands on injection of a range of joints using both one to one and group formats
- Ample time for questions and case discussions


Cost: £60.00

Early booking is recommended as this course is regularly over-subscribed.
