CPD Connect: Introduction to Joint Injections - PILOT

The CPD Connect Team invite you to attend a half-day pilot of an Introduction to Joint Injections workshop for GPs on Thursday 6 November 2025 at our offices in Edinburgh commencing at 09:30 until 12:30.  This is a pilot session where we hope to gain your feedback in how to strengthen the delivery and content of this course.

This pilot session will cover the following:

- targeted history and examination of common joints and associated conditions

- review of intra-articular joint injections as a treatment

- review of consent and risks of performing a joint injection

- practical experience using joint models

- discussion including case-based scenarios

This course is aimed at First5 GPs, both beginners and those with some joint injection experience.

Early booking is essential as our joint injection courses are regularly over-subscribed.

We are currently able to offer places to First5 GPs at no charge due to Scottish Government funding, but this course is highly resource intensive.  While we understand that unexpected emergencies may arise, please only book if you are genuinely confident that you can attend.

We will be asking all delegates for their feedback after the session to help shape future delivery.

CPD Connect: Introduction to Leadership Workshop

Great leadership skills are crucial and most helpful when navigating times of great ambiguity, uncertainty and challenge, all of which seem to be more and more prevalent in our day-to-day working lives.

The words leadership and management are often used in the same sentence but what is the difference? Understanding how you may be limiting yourself at present, by not working in leader mode is key to successfully navigating the world of work. When it comes to leadership it is often said that emotional intelligence is the difference that makes the difference. This workshop will explore emotional intelligence and in particular self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management.

The course will help you make sense of what leadership is, help you develop your personal leadership approach and how you can apply it in your day-to-day practice. You will be encouraged to learn what it is like to be on the receiving end of you.

CPD Connect invite you to attend a full day workshop, delivered via Microsoft Teams, commencing at 09:30 on Tuesday 11 November 2025.  The workshop will be interactive, blending leadership theory with practical day-to-day techniques, examples, participant contributions and group work. We will incorporate action planning and review sessions into the workshop so that the participants are actively encouraged to apply their learning into their day jobs.

Who should attend:

First5 GPs who want to develop their leadership skills and have greater confidence in handling ambiguity, uncertainty and challenge.

Cost:

This is a fully funded workshop - please enter your CCT date in the special requirements box when booking to authenticate your funding.

CPD Connect: GP Partnership Focus Group (First5 GP) - 2:15pm

CPD Connect are looking for First5 GPs to attend focus groups looking at the learning needs of GPs in relation to GP partnership. We are keen for First5 GPs from different backgrounds to come along – whether you are a partner, whether you are thinking about partnership or whether it isn’t even on your mind currently. We are wanting to explore what the learning needs are of First5 GPs in relation to partnership, and we want to hear from people with different experiences. We will be using the outcomes from this to develop the current CPD Connect Preparing for Partnership course that we offer here at NES.
