CPD Connect: Adult Support & Protection Workshop - November 2022

The CPD Connect Team invite you to attend an Adult Support and Protection Workshop Training session at level 3 on Tuesday 15 November 2022 which will be delivered over MS Teams.


Adult Protection is a mandatory training requirement for all staff working in primary care, for GPs there is a recommendation to complete a minimum of 8 hours of training over 3 years. This Level 3 certificated session will contribute 3 hours towards these minimum requirements.


The session will include pre-reading, a 2.5 hour interactive session and will have regular breaks. Please note that the session will not be recorded and participants are required to attend live. 


The session will include presentations from representatives of the Local Authority, Police Scotland and the NHS Grampian adult protection trainer.


The learning outcomes (detailed below) are in line with the RCGP expectations.

CPD Connect: MSK Problems for GPs including Joint and Soft Tissue Injections

This one day course will give an overview of common MSK presentations (Back, Shoulder, Hip, Knee etc.) in a mixed format of lectures and a practical session.



A course aimed at clinicians who want to improve their skills in:

CPD Connect: Joint Injections - Half Day PM

The CPD Connect Team invite you to attend a Joint Injections training session on Friday 2 December 2022 at our offices in Westport, Edinburgh.

This course is aimed at beginners and those with some joint injection experience.  

The session will cover the following:

- indications for corticosteroid injections - an interactive presentation
- hands on injection of a range of joints using both one to one and group formats
- Ample time for questions and case discussions

CPD Connect: GP Level 3 Child Protection - 15th December 2022

This course covers and fulfils some key level 3 competencies regarding child protection

Most care for children and young people is delivered outside the hospital setting. Safeguarding children and young people requires all general practitioners to be effective when dealing with child abuse. General Practitioners should recognise and respond to the needs of children and young people in special circumstances, through referral and joint working.

GPN (Napier) Diabetes SCQF Level 11 Module - Online/Distance Learning

Please ensure you have full support from your manager to undertake this education, including any workplace supervision.

Once you have accepted a place you will be liable for costs if you do not commit to the full course.


15-week online course delivered by Edinburgh Napier University. Course begins January 2023, exact date will be confirmed by Edinburgh Napier.

Delivered as a fully online learning module.
 

The course examines the theory of Diabetes Mellitus and relates it to patient care and health education. The 15 week module works through the patient journey from diagnosis to on-going management, to inform nurses how to educate and support patients, family and carers with the understanding of complex care needs. It incorporates pathophysiology, pharmacological, plus lifestyle and behaviour changes to enhance quality of life. There is also a focus on risk factors to prevent, or delay the onset of acute and long-term complications for patients.


Please note places on this module are limited and we expect demand for places to be high, so please book early to avoid disappointment. 

Cancellation Notice:  Please be mindful that although this course is free for you to attend, the Scottish Government has funded your place from public resources.  We expect a high demand but are unlikely to be able to fill places at short notice.  Therefore, if you are unable to attend for any reason at all we would be very grateful if you could please let us know no later than 14 days before the event. We reserve the right to charge for late cancellations or non-attendance.

 

Funding and Eligibility:   This course is funded by the Scottish Government GPN Fund, to sign up for this course you must be an active General Practice Nurse.  To ensure you are able to sign up please ensure your role on portal is 'Medical - Practice Nurse'.
