CPD Connect - NON-CLINICAL "A Day in the Life of a Busy General Practice"



This is a series of 12 webinars looking at what is required of today's GP principals and Practice Managers, and how we can successfully deal with the varied professional, legal and financial matters which complement our day-to-day clinical decision making.  This series aims to encourage doctors and their practice managers to learn together comprehensively.

All webinars begin at 1pm.  Approximately 45 minutes of presentation plus 15 minutes of Q&A.  The programme is below:

Wed 5 June - Employment law update.
Thur 6 June - Managing performance and absence.
Wed 12 June - Developing staff, minimising complaints, handling staff challenges.
Thur 20 June - Supporting pharmacist independent prescribing trainees.
Thur 27 JuneComplaint Handling in a Changing World   
Thur 4 July - Finance for non-finance managers.
Thur 11 JulySupervising Advanced Practice and Prescribing Trainees
Thur 18 July - Using feedback and complaints to improve practice.
Wed 24 July - Addressing performance issues in the professional team.
Thur 1 Aug - GP Practice Accounts 1 - The annual cycle of accounts.
Thur 8 Aug - GP Practice Accounts 2 - Tax, NI, expenses and superannuation.
Thur 15 Aug - GP Practice Accounts 3 - NHS Pension, annual allowance and top-ups.


All sessions will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams Live and will be recorded and available to view on “catch-up”.  Bookings can be made at any time, including after the programme has started, as access will be given to all recordings which have been made.

CPD Connect (First5 GPs): Psychiatry Cases - Simulation-based learning

Target Audience: First5 GPs (Please enter your CCT date in the Special Requirements box when booking to authenticate your funding).

An opportunity to develop and enhance skills in managing psychiatry cases in Primary Care.  Using actors and realistic scenarios you will be able to practice and refine your skills and learn from your group of peers in a safe and supportive environment.


This half-day session will focus on assessment, diagnosis and emergency management, including use of the Mental Health Act.

CPD Connect: Joint Injections - Half Day PM

The CPD Connect Team invite you to attend a Joint Injection Training for GPs training session on Friday 23 August 2024 at our offices in Westport, Edinburgh.

This course is aimed at beginners and those with some joint injection experience.  

The session will cover the following:

- indications for corticosteroid injections - an interactive presentation
- hands on injection of a range of joints using both one to one and group formats
- Ample time for questions and case discussions


Cost: £60.00

Early booking is recommended as this course is regularly over-subscribed.
