This course delivered by Acas will provide you with practical management skills to improve attendance in your workplace.  We will focus on good practice techniques to manage absence effectively, including how to conduct a successful return to work interview.

Cancellation Notice:  Please be mindful that although this course is free for you to attend, NES has funded your place from public resources.  We expect a high demand but are unlikely to be able to fill places at short notice from busy General Practices.  Therefore, if you are unable to attend for any reason at all we would be very grateful if you could please let us know no later than 14 days before the event to avoid a £30 cancellation fee to cover committed venue and catering costs and to ensure we have the opportunity to try and fill your place.

Leadership - Develop Self, Others and Service - Foundation Level Course

Develop Self, Others and Service (SOS)

This course is for GPs and Pharmacists who have not had any leadership development before.  A more advanced course is available for those who have had some previous leadership development.

This course is aimed at GPs and Pharmacists early in their career who have just started on their leadership journey. The main focus of this course is on the team.  The role of a leader of a team.  The role of the leader within a team (not all leaders lead a team but are part of a team).  How does a leader ensure that a team works effectively together?  Other topics covered in the course build on this team based approach.  What role does the leader have in improving services?  What role does the leader play in the analysis of Significant Events (SEAs)?  What is the role of a leader in the appraisal of others?

Another one day course, the Taste of Leadership course (TOL) focuses on aspects of personal leadership.  Using models e.g. Micheal West, the TOL is ideally completed prior to this course (SOS).  The TOL course gives you an opportunity to reflect and build on developing personal leadership behaviours.
